Christian von Kaphengst, Musiker und Produzent

Christian von Kaphengst ist gebürtiger Mainzer und lebt heute in Berlin. Im Alter von 6 Jahren begann er mit dem Klavierspiel und wurde am "Peter-Cornelius-Konservatorium" in Mainz unterrichtet. Er studierte an der "Musikhochschule Köln" Jazz-Kontrabass. Schon während seines Studiums spielte er in den Bands von Richie Cole, Till Brönner und Albert Mangelsdorff.

Der Bassist und Produzent ist seit 1999 festes Mitglied des "Patti Austin Trios" sowie des Begleittrios der "New York Voices".

Christian ist seit vielen Jahren Bassist und musikalischer Leiter der "Till Brönner Band" sowie der "Jeff Cascaro Band". Auftritte und Produktionen hatte er u.a. mit Randy Brecker, Nat Adderley, Roy Hargrove, Mark Murphy, Kenny Werner, Joe Sample, Marc Marshall, Nathan East, Frank Chastenier, Yvonne Catterfield, Peter Fessler, Torsten Goods, Sarah Connor, Charlie Mariano, Gunter Hampel, Hiram Bullock, James Carter, Toots Thielemans und Take6.

Im Jahr 2017 gründete Christian von Kaphengst das mittlerweile legendäre Jazzquartett "Web Web" zusammen mit dem Münchner Pianisten Roberto Di Gioia.

Christian von Kaphengst is a native of Mainz and now lives in Berlin. At the age of 6, he began playing the piano and received lessons at the "Peter-Cornelius-Conservatory" in Mainz. He studied jazz double bass at the "Cologne University of Music." During his studies, he played in the bands of Richie Cole, Till Brönner, and Albert Mangelsdorff.

The bassist and producer has been a permanent member of the "Patti Austin Trio" and the accompaniment trio of the "New York Voices" since 1999.

Christian has also been the bassist and musical director of the "Till Brönner Band" and the "Jeff Cascaro Band" for many years. He has performed and produced with, among others, Randy Brecker, Nat Adderley, Roy Hargrove, Mark Murphy, Kenny Werner, Joe Sample, Marc Marshall, Nathan East, Frank Chastenier, Yvonne Catterfield, Peter Fessler, Torsten Goods, Sarah Connor, Charlie Mariano, Gunter Hampel, Hiram Bullock, James Carter, Toots Thielemans, and Take6.

In 2017, Christian von Kaphengst founded the now legendary jazz quartet "Web Web" together with Munich pianist Roberto Di Gioia.
