Houryar Esmaeili:
"Geboren wurde ich 1989 in Saarbrücken. Meine Eltern kamen vor meiner Geburt aus dem Iran nach Deutschland. Seit 2014 lebe ich in Berlin.

Ich bin Künstler, Philosoph, Musikbegeisterter und in den Tanz verliebter Mensch. Meine Arbeiten bewegen sich zwischen Poesie, Performance, Kulinarik, Installationen und Ritualen der Naturverehrung.

Es bedarf einer globalen Neuorientierung und sinnvoller Navigation, um die düsteren Prognosen über unsere Zukunft abzuwenden und die populationsdynamische Verletzung zu heilen, unter der wir Menschen weltweit leiden. Wir benötigen jene Institutionen des Menschseins, die uns Beweglichkeit, Hoffnung, Verortung und Handlungsvielfalt schenken, mehr denn je.

Dieser Beschwörung unserer Institutionen der kulturellen Menschheitsgeschichte, im gemeinsamen Tanz, dem geteilten Mahl, der zugewandten Erzählung, widme ich meine Zeit, meine Kraft und meinen Geist.

Das menschliche Bewusstsein erscheint mir der relevanteste Grund, auf dem meine Arbeit fußen darf. Diesem Grund gerecht und würdig zu begegnen, mich an der Evolution des Menschen zu beteiligen, Gefahren und Fallen zu erkennen, zu kartografieren und vielleicht sogar zu umschiffen, dem möchte ich mit meiner Arbeit dienen.

Die modernen Abdriften unserer Epoche, die ökologische Abdrift, die soziale Abdrift und die spirituelle Abdrift berauben uns einem Gefühl von Heimat – weltweit; dem geborgenen Zuhausesein als Mensch auf dieser Erde. Wir selbst werden das unvorhersehbarste Phänomen und unser Habitat macht uns darauf aufmerksam, während unsere individuelle Rationalisierung so einfältig wird, dass wir sie manipulieren und nachahmen können – mit Maschinen.

Die politische Überkompensation dieses Verlusts beobachten wir in vielen Gesellschaften als ansteigende Popularität von politischem Nationalismus und organischer Isolation.

Dem stelle ich meine Arbeit entgegen, dieser Verirrung reiche ich meine ortskundige Hand, dieser Wut schenke ich Vergebung. Ich glaube an eine gemeinsame Welt in Frieden, Gerechtigkeit und Schönheit."

"I was born in 1989 in Saarbrücken. My parents immigrated to Germany from Iran before I was born. Since 2014, I have been living in Berlin.

I am an artist, philosopher, music enthusiast, and a person deeply in love with dance. My work moves between poetry, performance, culinary art, installations, and rituals of nature reverence.

A global reorientation and meaningful navigation are needed if we are to avert the bleak forecasts for our future and heal the population-dynamic wounds from which humanity suffers across the globe. More than ever, we need those institutions of our humanity that offer us mobility, hope, belonging, and a diversity of ways to act.

I devote my time, my strength, and my spirit to invoking these institutions of humanity's cultural history: shared dance, the communal meal, and attentive storytelling.

Human consciousness seems to me the most essential foundation upon which my work can stand. To engage with this foundation in a way that is worthy of it, to participate in the evolution of humanity, to recognize, map, and perhaps even navigate around its dangers and pitfalls—this is what I wish my work to serve.

The modern drifts of our age—ecological drift, social drift, and spiritual drift—are depriving us, across the world, of a sense of home: of the experience of feeling safely at home as human beings on this Earth. We ourselves are becoming the most unpredictable phenomenon, and our habitat is making us aware of this, while our individual rationality is becoming so simplistic that it can be manipulated and even imitated by machines.

The political overcompensation for this loss can be seen in many societies in the growing popularity of political nationalism and organic isolation.

My work stands in opposition to this. To this disorientation, I extend the hand of one who knows the way. To this anger, I offer forgiveness. I believe in a shared world of peace, justice, and beauty."
