Michael Sans

Kerstin Polte is a director and screenwriter. She completed her film education in Canada and at Zurich University of the Arts (MA in Screenwriting/Directing). She was a participant in the Munich Screenwriting Workshop, the European directing development programme EKRAN, and Netflix’s Grow Creative programme.
Her graduation film, 510 METER ÜBER DEM MEER, screened at more than 150 international film festivals. LETZTE RUNDE premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival. Her first feature film, WER HAT EIGENTLICH DIE LIEBE ERFUNDEN?, received, among other awards, the Bavarian Film Award.
Following a series of television productions, including a TATORT SAARBRÜCKEN episode and the queer series WIR and BECOMING CHARLIE, which were nominated, among others, for the German Television Award and the Grimme Award, she completed BLINDGÄNGER last year. The film enjoyed a successful theatrical and festival run and has won more than 30 international awards.
At the heart of her poetic and humorous storytelling are unconventional, resilient characters and relationships that illuminate our society from new perspectives. For her, diversity both in front of and behind the camera is a key to developing a deeper, more emotional understanding of how we live together—especially at a time when social divisions are growing deeper.
She is a member of the German Film Academy, teaches at various film schools, and serves as a jury member for the German Federal Government’s cultural film funding.
